The government’s 1922 COVID-19 vaccination booking website will begin accepting appointments Wednesday for booster shots that will be administered next week, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Tuesday.
The bookings will be open to people aged 18 and over who received their second vaccine dose on or before Dec. 26, the CECC said.
Eligible people aged 55 and over will be able to book their booster shots from 10 a.m. Wednesday on the 1922 website, while appointments will open at noon for those aged 38-54, and at 2 p.m. for people in the 18 and over age group, the CECC said.
The website will stop accepting appointments at noon Friday for the booster shots, which will be administered March 14-20, the CECC said.
Around 1.23 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be available in the upcoming round of bookings, including 890,000 doses of the Moderna brand, 240,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, 67,000 doses of the locally produced Medigen, and 27,000 doses of AstraZeneca, according to the CECC.
Meanwhile, people seeking to get a first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine are advised to make appointments directly at hospitals, clinics, and government health centers, as the government website is currently not accepting such bookings, the CECC said.
To date, 82.98 percent of Taiwan’s 23.35 million population has received at least one COVID-19 shot, while 77.22 percent has gotten two doses, CECC data shows.
Since Taiwan began giving third doses last December, 44.84 percent of the population has received a booster shot, and 0.83 percent has been given an additional dose, which is a third shot administered to immunocompromised people, according to the data.
