Update: 10 domestic COVID-19 cases part of same-family cluster: CECC
Taipei, Aug. 29 (CNA) Taiwan on Sunday reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 -- 13 of them transmitted domestically and 10 contracted overseas -- according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
A new death was reported Sunday, a Filipino in his 60s, who passed away on Aug. 27 after he arrived in Taiwan earlier in the day, the CECC said.
Among the 13 domestic cases, nine were contacts of previously confirmed COVID-19 patients, and they tested positive in quarantine, Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung (???) said at a press briefing.
Of the 13 domestically transmitted cases, 11 were reported in New Taipei and the two others were reported in Taipei.
Meanwhile, the imported cases involve 10 Taiwanese nationals, who returned to the country from China, Cambodia, the United States, Myanmar, Pakistan and Vietnam, according to the CECC.
To date, Taiwan has confirmed a total of 15,983 COVID-19 cases.
