U.S. fast-food chain Burger King will raise the prices of some of its items in Taiwan "after careful evaluation of its operations," company management announced Friday.
The price hike, which will take effect on Jan. 4, 2023, will see prices raised by 5.8 percent on average, Burger King said in a press release.
According to Burger King, the price of hamburgers at its restaurants will increase by between NT$4 and NT$20 (US$0.13-US$0.65) -- including Whoppers (NT$11), Whoppers Jrs. (NT$5), Cheesy Tendergrills (NT$4), Double Cod Fish Burgers (NT$10) and Double Beef Burgers (NT$20).
Food items that will keep the same price include Cheese Fries, Onion Rings, Chocolate Sundaes, and Strawberry Sundaes, the company said.
According to Burger King, all orders made via food delivery platforms will also see prices unchanged.
Several other brands in Taiwan, such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonald's, Din Tai Fung, and Dain-Dain Hamburger -- a local chain based in southern Taiwan -- have also announced price hikes in recent weeks.
