The New Taipei Metro Corp. (NTMC) will begin running a 12:31 a.m. service between the Danhai Light Rail Transit system's Hongshulin and Kanding stations on a two-month trial basis, the company said Tuesday.
In a statement, the NTMC explained that the extra service was being added to cater to the needs of residents returning home late at night to Danhai New Town (?????), a growing residential area located near the Kanding Station.
According to the NTMC, the 12:31 train will replace the 12:01 a.m. train as the final service on the Hongshulin-Kanding line beginning Wednesday morning.
Furthermore, in order to reduce train congestion during the current COVID-19 outbreak, the NTMC said it would increase the frequency of weekday trains between Binhai Shalun Station and Hongshulin Station from June 6.
The frequency of trains during the morning rush hour from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. will be increased from one every 7.5 minutes to an average of one every 5 to 6 minutes, the company said.
Meanwhile, departure times during the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. period will also be adjusted in accordance with the arrival times of trains at Taipei Mass Rapid Transit's Tamsui Station.
