EGAT celebrates His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday by supporting the operations of Somdej Phra Yupparaj Hospital by cleaning air conditioners to reduce energy costs and installing innovative air circulation and treatment systems (City Tree) and providing free eye examination and glasses services.
Today (3 October 2024), Professor Emeritus Kasem Wattanachai, M.D., Privy Councilor and Chairman of Somdech Phra Yupparaj Hospital Foundation, together with General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Privy Councilor and Second Vice Chairman of Somdech Phra Yupparaj Hospital Foundation, visited the project to support the operation of Somdech Phra Yupparaj Hospital in honor of His Majesty the King on the occasion of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024 under the operation of the Ministry of Energy and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) at Somdech Phra Yupparaj Sai Buri Hospital, Pattani Province.

tions of 21 Somdej Phra Yupparat Hospitals nationwide is one of 10 projects to continue the royal initiatives that the Ministry of Energy and EGAT have organized on the occasion of honoring His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024 under activities to promote operations in 3 areas:
In terms of energy efficiency and air quality, by cleaning air conditioners for Somdech Phra Yupparaj Sai Buri Hospital, Pattani Province, almost 150 units in total, to reduce the hospital’s electricity costs. Throughout the project, air conditioners will be cleaned for 21 Somdech Phra Yupparaj Hospitals, totaling more than 5,500 units, reducing energy consumption by 2.74 million units per year, equivalent to 13.68 million baht in electricity costs, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1,427 tons per year. In addition, an innovative air circulation and treatment system (City Tree) will be installed at 21 Somdech Phra Yupparaj Hospitals, which is an
innovation to reduce PM2.5 dust particles and eliminate germs, viruses, and bacteria. It can filter up to 2,000 cubic meters of dust per hour, making the air fresh like being in nature. It is also a resting point for hospital users.
In terms of public health, a mobile unit will provide free vision screening services, eye health problem resolution, and eyeglasses for 1,500 people in the area of ??Somdej Phra Yupparat Sai Buri Hospital, Pattani Province, who lack access to ophthalmology services, to reduce social inequality. Throughout the project, mobile units will provide eyeglasses services at 18 Somdej Phra Yupparat Hospitals, totaling 27,000 people.
In terms of resources and the environment, the Rungpheung tree, the royal tree of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, will be planted to increase green space and create a shady atmosphere within the hospital area.
