Employer employment permits extended an additional 3 months

Employer-held migrant worker employment permits that are set to expire from April 1 to June 30 will have them automatically extended for an additional three months due to continued border controls, the Ministry of Labor said Wednesday.

It is estimated that the automatic extension will benefit about 80,000 employers, who will not need to file a new application to bring in foreign workers, the ministry said.

Citing an example, the agency said an employer with an employment permit that expires on May 25 will have it automatically extended until Aug. 25.

Based on current regulations, employers wishing to recruit migrant workers from abroad must apply to the ministry for a six-month permit, with the foreign workers required to arrive in the country within that period.
