EVA Air ranked world’s 7th best carrier in 2021 by Skytrax

Taipei-based EVA Air, one of Taiwan's largest airlines, has been ranked the world's seventh best airline for 2021 in a survey released Tuesday by Skytrax, the United Kingdom's leading aviation service research agency.

EVA Air was also recognized for excellence in several sub-categories, including being ranked No. 4 in the World's Best Economy Class Catering category, No. 5 in Best Airlines in Asia, No. 6 in World's Best Airport Services, and No. 7 in World's Best Airline Cabin Crew.

According to Skytrax, which suspended its 2020 awards due to the catastrophic damage to the aviation sector from COVID-19, the awards this year were based on a more extended customer survey period than in the past, from September 2019 to July 2021, representing a mix of travel before COVID-19 and during the global pandemic.

EVA President Clay Sun (???) said the airline, which was ranked the world's sixth best airline in 2019, has been striving to introduce new services, including on a trial basis a digital health verification system that makes air travel safer and more convenient, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Qatar Airways was named Airline of the Year for 2021, with Singapore Airlines ranked second and ANA All Nippon Airways in third place, out of more than 350 airlines included in the survey results, Skytrax said.

Emirates claimed fourth place, while Japan Airlines ranked No. 5, according to Skytrax.

Rounding out the top 10 world's best airlines for 2021 were in descending order Cathay Pacific Airways, EVA Air, Qantas Airways, Hainan Airlines and Air France.
