Taipei: The first group of Luxembourg parliamentarians to visit Taiwan since 2019 arrived in Taipei on Sunday and will meet with senior government officials to enhance bilateral relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
According to Focus Taiwan, the delegation is led by St©phanie Weydert and includes three fellow members of Luxembourg's Chamber of Deputies-Ben Polidori, Liz Braz, and Ricardo Marques. The group landed at Taoyuan International Airport on Sunday morning and has scheduled meetings with key Taiwanese officials such as Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun, Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang, and Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi. The delegation will also meet with representatives from several non-governmental organizations before their departure on Friday.
The visit will focus on discussions with the Taiwanese side about enhancing bilateral relations, with additional talks covering cross-Taiwan Strait relations, education, culture, and gender equality topics. MOFA highlighted that this is the first visit by Luxembourg parliamentarians to Taiwan since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, marking an important step in renewing and strengthening ties between the two regions.
