IntelliGen Aims to Deploy AI 3D Imaging System Across Taiwan by 2028

Taipei:An innovative AI-powered 3D medical imaging system created by Taiwanese startup IntelliGen Technology Co. is currently undergoing testing at the Ministry of Health and Welfare's (MOHW) data center. The company plans to extend this technology to all 29 medical centers in Taiwan by 2028, as stated by the company's chairman.

According to Focus Taiwan, IntelliGen Technology Chairman Sunny Sun shared these developments during the "2026 Taiwan AI 3D Medical Imaging and Metaverse Application Conference." Sun highlighted that the company spent five to six years developing this AI platform, which is touted as Taiwan's first domestically developed system for generating 3D medical images.

The platform, developed in partnership with the MOHW, employs Anatomy Cloud AI technology to transform traditional two-dimensional CT and MRI scans into high-resolution, full-color 3D anatomical models within three to five minutes. It has the capability to distinguish and separate over 260 organs and tissue types while offering physicians various imaging options for diagnosis.

The web-based platform is accessible on multiple devices, including computers, smartphones, and tablets, and supports export to mixed-reality headsets for clinical use. It is designed to aid in early cancer detection and imaging analysis, particularly for lung and liver cancer. Additionally, IntelliGen is seeking a patent for an automatic positioning technology that integrates digital twin technology with 3D imaging, facilitating precise surgical interventions.

IntelliGen has also made strides internationally by acquiring Japanese medical imaging company Holoeyes, combining its AI-based technology with Holoeyes' distribution network and regulatory approvals. This acquisition opens avenues for IntelliGen to expand into operating room applications and reach over 200 prominent hospitals and medical schools in Japan.

The company aims to commercialize its technology through various avenues, including algorithm licensing and joint development of surgical robots, aspiring to elevate Taiwan's medical technology industry towards higher-value intellectual property exports. The AI platform will also be available to Taiwan's diplomatic allies via MOHW servers, enabling remote medical image analysis and telemedicine support.

Additionally, IntelliGen plans to list on Taiwan's Emerging Stock Board in August 2027. The company also announced the donation of 10 AI 3D medical imaging workstations to the MOHW for use in major medical centers and affiliated hospitals.

Sun expressed hope that, with sustained government backing, Taiwan's medical technology industry could achieve global competitiveness akin to its semiconductor industry.
