It’s started! Vote for the 31st Prime Minister – Coalition parties support “Paethongtarn”

The House of Representatives meeting to select a prime minister has begun. The coalition parties support 'Paetongtarn Shinawatra', a candidate from the Pheu Thai Party, to become the 31st prime minister, confident that she can lead the government. The special meeting of the House of Representatives has begun, chaired by Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He considered and approved the person who should be appointed as Prime Minister according to Section 159 of the Constitution, without any Senators or Senators joining in the vote to select the Prime Minister according to Section 272 of the Constitution. Mr. Surawong Thienthong, MP for Sa Kaeo and Secretary-General of the Pheu Thai Party, proposed Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, a prime ministerial candidate from the Pheu Thai Party, to hold the position of prime minister, with 290 MPs endorsing her. The chairman said that there was only one nominee, but it had to be voted on, with at least half of the 248 MPs endorsing it. However, before the vote, the meeting spent more than 1 hour debating because the opposition proposed a debate because they saw it as a motion. However, both Pheu Thai MPs and the chairman wanted to have the election and should not debate the qualifications because they had no duty to inspect. Finally, Mr. Wisut Chainarun, the government whip, proposed a compromise, bringing it up for debate so that the meeting would proceed smoothly. Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the Prachachon Party, discussed that he did not agree with the political death penalty by depriving political rights and viewed that ethical standards should be rules that the political parties can examine themselves, not rules that other organizations can examine. He also elected a prime minister and asked everyone to help move forward to improve these rules. Then enter the voting process to approve Ms. Paethongtarn as Prime Minister by announcing the votes one by one. However, the government leaders are confident that Ms. Paethong tarn will be able to lead the government forward. They believe that her seniority is not a problem, pointing out that it depends on her potential and the people. They admit that even though she is from the Shinawatra family, it is not a negative factor. They believe that politics will be stable from now on Source: Thai News Agency
