South Korean automaker KG Mobility Corp. said Thursday it has partnered with general trading firm STX Corp. to supply over 2,000 Rexton Sports pickup trucks to the Peruvian Army by next year. Under the partnership, KG Mobility's initial supply to the Peruvian Army will consist of around 400 units this year, with plans to expand to 2,000 units by next year. The supplied fleet will range from standard models to special-purpose built vehicles. Previously, in 2016, KG Mobility supplied around 2,000 Rexton Sports for use by the Peruvian police force. Rexton Sports were also delivered as a road management vehicle to the British Road Traffic Authority in 2019 and as an official vehicle to the Palestinian interior ministry in 2020. According to KG Mobility, representatives from the Peruvian Army and STX visited the automaker's production plant in Pyeongtaek, some 65 kilometers south of Seoul, to tour the facility and test-drive the model. "We plan to increase global sales volumes by expanding cooperation with t he Peruvian Army, actively entering emerging markets and launching new products," a company official said.
