Launch of FINAL BET operation, destroying 5 networks of ‘Euro’ prediction websites

July 5 - The Cyber Police Bureau, or PCB, announced the results of the operation 'FINAL BET', which raided 5 major online gambling networks for predicting the results of the European football competition, arresting 11 key suspects, seizing assets totaling more than 360 million baht. Following Pol. Lt. Gen. Worawat Watnakornbancha, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), who has urged police officers under his command to act in accordance with the policies of the government and the Royal Thai Police, the Technology Crime Suppression Division 2 has investigated and found wrongdoings related to organizing online football betting and other types of gambling via the Internet, accessible to the general public, totaling 5 networks, with over 30,000 members and a turnover of over 60 million baht per month. Later, the police were able to gather evidence to request search warrants and arrest warrants for 29 related offenders, including 4 owners, 7 financial managers, and 18 employees and mule accounts. Until the cyber police officers mobilized their forces and brought search warrants to search 10 target areas in Songkhla and Nan provinces, seizing a large amount of evidence including cash, account books, brand names, amulets, etc., arresting a total of 11 suspects according to the arrest warrants: 2 owners, 6 financial managers, and 3 admin staff, who were arrested while committing the crime in front of others. They were charged with the offense of 'jointly organizing electronic gambling without permission and colluding by agreement of 2 or more people to commit money laundering and committing money laundering because of the colluding and jointly laundering money'.
