A Lithuanian delegation led by Vice Minister of Economy and Innovation Jovita Neliupšiene will arrive in Taiwan on Sunday for a four-day visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Saturday.
The 10-member delegation, which comprises representatives from Lithuanian technology companies, will meet with Taiwanese officials handling trade and investment during their visit from June 12-15, the ministry said in a statement.
The delegation will also visit enterprises in Taiwan's "strategic industries" and discuss possible ways of collaborations on promoting bilateral trade and securing supply chains, according to the statement.
The statement did not specify which Taiwanese officials the delegation will meet, nor did it mention whether the visit by the delegation is related to the proposed Lithuanian trade office in Taiwan.
In an interview with CNA in March, Aušrine Armonaite, chief of the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Innovation, said preparations for the proposed trade office were underway.
Taiwan opened its representative office in Vilnius on Nov. 18, 2021, in accordance with a reciprocal deal that the two countries inked in July the same year.
In its statement, MOFA said the delegation's planned visit would signify the determination of the countries to develop stronger economic links based on their shared values.
The planned visit also comes less than one month after Taiwan sent a delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Chen Chern-chyi (???) to the Baltic nation for high-level official exchanges on bilateral economic cooperation, the statement said.
