A magnitude 4.6 earthquake rocked Hualien County in eastern Taiwan at 5 p.m. on Monday, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
The earthquake was centered 102.3 kilometers south-southwest of the Hualien County Hall, in Fuli Township, at a depth of 11.3 km, the bureau's Seismology Center said.
The earthquake's intensity, which gauges its actual effect, was highest in Taitung and Hualien counties, where it measured 3 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale, according to CWB data.
No damage or injuries from the quake were immediately reported at press time.
