Taipei: A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck off the coast of northeastern Taiwan at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. According to Focus Taiwan, the epicenter of the temblor was located at sea, about 41.7 kilometers southeast of Yilan County Hall, at a depth of 27.8 km. The earthquake's intensity was highest in Yilan County and Hualien County, where it measured 3 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale. The quake also measured an intensity of 2 in New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Nantou County, Hsinchu County, Taipei, and Changhua County, the CWA said.
