Taipei: A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck off the coast of southeastern Taiwan at 5:47 a.m. Thursday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. According to Focus Taiwan, the epicenter of the temblor was located at sea, about 21.3 kilometers east-northeast of Taitung County Hall, at a depth of 35 km. The earthquake's intensity was highest in Taitung County and Hualien County, where it measured 3 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale. The quake also registered an intensity of 2 in Pingtung County, Nantou County, Kaohsiung, Chiayi County, Yunlin County, Tainan, and Chiayi City, the CWA said.
