More Taiwan Railway Tickets to Go on Sale Jan. 30 for 228 Holiday

Taipei: Tickets for additional Taiwan Railway services over the 228 Peace Memorial Day long weekend will go on sale at midnight on Jan. 30, Taiwan Railway Corp. (TRC) said Monday. In a statement, the TRC detailed plans for 97 additional services scheduled from Feb. 27 to March 3 to accommodate the expected increase in passengers during the holiday period from Feb. 28 to March 2.

According to Focus Taiwan, the TRC announced that the extra services will be available on select Tze Chiang Limited Express and Puyuma Express routes, along with certain fast local trains. This initiative is aimed at managing the anticipated high demand for rail travel during the holiday.

The TRC also mentioned that tickets for coaches typically reserved for passengers traveling with young children will not be sold during the five-day period. Instead, these coaches will be accessible to all passengers to help manage the increased passenger volume.

Additionally, real name-based seating on the Tze Chiang Limited Express will be available for specific groups starting one day later, at midnight on Jan. 31. This service is open to Taiwanese nationals residing in Hualien and Taitung counties, their spouses, and close relatives, as well as citizens with ID numbers beginning with the letters U or V.
