The arrest was made after receiving information that the suspect was a pregnant foreign woman whose foreign friend was renting the room. Officers inspected the room and found bloodstains. Ms. Pew Semao had been missing from the room since 4 July. The investigation team therefore placed a watch until Ms. Pew Semao returned to her room, where they identified themselves and arrested her. Ms. Piwsema confessed that the bodies of the twin babies were hers. She had taken abortion pills to induce a miscarriage. When the babies were born, she found that they were both dead.
