NTU the top pick for recruiting among domestic employers: Survey

A survey on the caliber of graduates of domestic universities has found that National Taiwan University (NTU) graduates are the most popular with domestic enterprises, according to Taiwan Job Bank 1111.

Beyond its leading role in the fields of science and engineering, NTU has taken an innovative approach to education that allows its students the freedom to arrange their learning trajectories, which has earned the appreciation of employers, the job bank said.

Next among the top-ranked universities were National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in second, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in third, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in fourth, and National Tsing Hua University in fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 in order were National Taipei University of Technology, National Chengchi University, Fu Jen Catholic University (FJU), National Central University, and Tamkang University, the job bank said in a statement Friday.

FJU and Tamkang University were the only two private universities to crack the top 10, the statement said.

NTU has placed in the top two on the list only twice since 2015, with 2015 and 2021 the only two years it finished second after NCKU, which rebounded from fifth in 2022 to second in 2023, the 1111 website showed.

NCKU ranked second from 2016 to 2020.

More generally, the survey found that employers particularly valued five abilities in its new employees — problem-solving, communications, teamwork, expertise, and fast learning, job bank spokeswoman Huang Jo-wei (???) said.

The survey, conducted from Sept. 16 to Oct. 31 in 2022, collected 2,802 valid samples from employers with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.85 percentage points.
