Villagers in Wiang Subdistrict, Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province, went fishing in the Mekong River when their boat capsized near a sand dredging port on the Lao PDR side. Three people survived and two are missing. Officials are mobilizing forces to search for them. Five villagers went fishing in the Mekong River from Ban Don Mahawan, Wiang Subdistrict, Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province, and the boat capsized in the middle of the Mekong River at the sand dredging port on the Lao side, opposite the Naga Shrine, an area connecting Ban Pak Ing, Si Don Chai Subdistrict, Chiang Khong District, and Ban Chaem Pong, Lai Ngao Subdistrict, Wiang Kaen District. Three people survived and two are missing: Mr. Nattawat, age 29, and Mr. Atsanai, age 42. After the incident, the Chiang Khong District Chief coordinated with the Chiang Khong Marine Department and rescue units to search for the missing persons.
