P. LEAGUE+ & T1 LEAGUE/Lin Wei-han named T1 League MVP for December

New Taipei CTBC DEA point guard Lin Wei-han (???) was named the T1 MVP of the Month for December for the first time, while his teammate Edgaras Zelionis was named T1 Import of the Month, the six-team T1 LEAGUE announced Tuesday.

Lin, 32, averaged 17.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 12 assists in his three games last month, including one game with 18 points, 11 boards, and 12 dimes against the Taoyuan Leopards, making him the first player to achieve at least one triple double in Taiwan's Super Basketball League (SBL), China's Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and T1.

The triple double came six days after one by Lee Han-sheng (???) of the Tainan TSG GhostHawks, the first triple double recorded by a local player in the league, but Lin was the first to make the achievement in regular time.

Zelionis, who is from Lithuania, was recognized as the best import player for achieving an average of 20.6 points and 11.8 rebounds per game in the DEA's five games last month.

Zelionis had not previously won the award.

The on court performances by Lin and Zelionis played an important part in securing the DEA's 5-0 record in December.

Dreamers appoint new head coach

Meanwhile, the Formosa Taishin Dreamers in the P. LEAGUE+ (PLG), the other six-team professional basketball league in Taiwan, parted ways with their Canadian head coach Kyle Julius, the team said via its Facebook and Instagram pages Tuesday.

The Dreamers thanked Julius for his hard work over the past few years. He was appointed the Dreamers' head coach in August 2019, after which he agreed a three-year extension contract from the PLG's inaugural 2020-21 season.

The Dreamers announced that assistant coach Eric Lai (???) will be their new head coach.
