Taipei: The Pingtung County government announced school and office closures for six townships on Saturday due to widespread flooding, while other parts of the county will operate as normal. According to Focus Taiwan, the affected townships are Donggang, Shinyuan, Nanzhou, Linbian, Kanding, and Jiadong, where flooding continues to disrupt traffic, as per a statement issued Friday evening. The county government noted that under regulations governing work and class suspensions during natural disasters, people in areas not covered by the closure order may still opt to stay home if flooding poses safety risks or raises concerns about potential hazards, and report the decision to their employer or school. Information from the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration indicates that work and classes in Tainan and Kaohsiung will proceed as usual on Saturday, as conditions do not meet the criteria required for closures. No additional work and school closures had been announced by other municipalities at the ti me of reporting.
