Tainan police on Saturday said they are searching for a man who is believed to have stabbed a Vietnamese migrant worker to death following an altercation at a foreign workers' dormitory in Annan District.
The victim, identified by his last name Phan (?), was pronounced dead at a local hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning after efforts to resuscitate him failed, police said.
Phan allegedly got into a fight with another migrant worker at the dormitory, they said.
However, the suspect had fled the scene by the time officers arrived to investigate a report of an injured migrant worker, police said, adding that a manhunt for the suspect is ongoing.
The victim was found with multiple knife wounds, including two to the left side of his chest and a deep laceration, after a preliminary forensic examination, according to the Tainan District Prosecutors Office.
The exact cause of death has yet to be determined pending the outcome of a full autopsy, prosecutors said.
