Ruling People Power Party (PPP) leader Han Dong-hoon met with the chief of a major doctors' lobby group Thursday amid the protracted standoff between the government and the medical community over the state medical reform plan, party officials said. It marked the first meeting between Han and Korean Medical Association (KMA) chief Lim Hyun-taek as a majority of trainee doctors have left their workplaces since February in protest of the government's plan to significantly increase the medical school admissions quota to address the shortage of doctors.
