Guam: President Lai Ching-te arrived in Guam on Wednesday night for a layover after concluding his visit to Taiwan's Pacific ally Tuvalu. The president was greeted at the airport at approximately 8:40 p.m. by Ingrid Larson, managing director of the American Institute in Taiwan's Washington office, alongside Guam Governor Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero. According to Focus Taiwan, during this brief encounter, Governor Guerrero extended an invitation to President Lai for breakfast at her residence the following morning. After the warm welcome, President Lai's motorcade, accompanied by a police escort, proceeded to the hotel where he would stay until Thursday afternoon. President Lai's itinerary includes departing for Palau, marking the last stop on his weeklong South Pacific tour from November 30 to December 6. This tour is notably his first overseas visit as president. In a statement to local media on December 1, Governor Guerrero expressed her anticipation for discussions with President Lai during his stay in Gu am. She highlighted key topics such as tourism and cultural partnerships, which she aims to explore with the Taiwanese leader. Additionally, Guerrero revealed plans to organize "an official Guam delegation" to Taiwan early next year, as reported by Pacific Daily News.
