Prominent producer to raise tissue prices 8%

Wholesale prices for popular tissue brands Mayflower, Delight, and Tender will be raised by 8 percent next year amid a reported 40 percent-plus spike in raw material costs.

The brands’ producer Yuen Foong Yu Consumer Products Co. announced plans for the price hike Friday, with the increase set to take effect after the Lunar New Year Holiday.

The company said that the prices of pulp, packaging, and power, which account for the bulk of its production costs, had increased more than 40 percent this year – with some nearly doubling.

In addition to paper products, Yuen Foong Yu also owns the cleaning product brands Orange House, Fresh Sense, and New Clean.

Hypermarkets PX Mart and Carrefour, stockists of Yuen Foong Yu’s tissue brands, both stated Friday morning that there were no plans as of yet to pass the wholesale price increase onto consumers.
