Taipei-based Silks Hotel Group will launch its first overseas franchise by the end of the year, with the opening of its Just Sleep hotel in Japan, as it seeks to capitalize on an expected recovery of the travel industry.
The Just Sleep hotel is being established in the bustling commercial district of Shinsaibashi in Osaka, in collaboration with Japan-based Minato Create Co., the hotel group said Monday, after signing a cooperation pact with the property development company.
The hotel in Osaka, the group's 10th outlet and its first overseas venture, will have 100 rooms, tentatively priced at 10,000 Japanese yen (US$75) per night when it opens in December, the group said.
Located just 25 minutes by car from Kansai International Airport, the hotel will feature local specialties and high-quality service, according to the Silks Hotel Group.
The aim is to attract local business people, as well as tourists from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and other Asian countries, as the travel industry is expected to pick up after its stagnation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group said.
