Taipei Azalea Festival to Open with 200,000 Blooms in Daan Park

Taipei: The 2026 Taipei Azalea Festival is set to commence on Friday in Daan Park, featuring an impressive array of over 200,000 azaleas. The city government made this announcement on Wednesday, highlighting the vibrant display of blooms anticipated for the event.

According to Focus Taiwan, the city's Parks and Street Lights Office revealed that this year's festival will present a diverse collection of azaleas, including unique varieties on loan from nearby cities. Among these are the "Taoyuan No. 1 -- Red Rose" and "Taoyuan No. 2 -- Torch Azaleas," which have been provided by the Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station. Additionally, native azalea species from a flower production cooperative in Jinshan District, New Taipei, will be showcased.

A notable feature of the festival is an ecological-themed installation named "A'rk." This installation, designed as a symbolic ark, will be docked in Daan Park and signifies the park's importance in creating cherished memories for residents over the past decade.

The festival will run from Friday to March 31 and will include various activities such as markets, live music performances, and a range of workshops. Attendees can participate in workshops on plant pot making, mini bouquet accessories, and wool crafts.

In conjunction with the Azalea Festival, the 2026 Taipei Rose Festival will also open on Friday at the Taipei Rose Garden. This event will showcase 5,000 roses from more than 800 different varieties, offering another floral attraction for visitors.
