Taipei: The Taipei Zoo announced it would take legal action against a man filmed climbing over a railing to tease and feed spotted hyenas in their enclosure. The incident occurred on Saturday, and the man was seen approaching a ledge above the hyenas' habitat and dropping unidentified objects to two of the animals in videos shared on social media. According to Focus Taiwan, the videos quickly went viral, garnering nearly 5,000 comments by Sunday morning, with many urging for the man's punishment. In response, the Taipei Zoo released a statement condemning the individual's actions as "extremely inappropriate and even illegal." The zoo has stated it will monitor the health of the hyenas and collect evidence from public sources and surveillance footage to investigate and address the situation legally. The zoo plans to consult with its legal team to determine if the man's behavior breached laws related to public order or animal protection.
