Taitung: The Taitung County government announced Sunday that the annual Taiwan International Balloon Festival is scheduled to commence on July 5, offering spectators an array of activities including fireworks displays and drone shows. The festival, now in its 15th year, will begin at dawn in Taitung's Luye Highland.
According to Focus Taiwan, the festival's opening will be followed by a fireworks display and a drone show at the same location on the evening of July 5. These events will pave the way for a series of special occasions, primarily featuring projection mapping shows with musical accompaniment, to be held every Thursday until August 21.
The majority of the festival activities will take place in Luye Highland. However, additional events are planned at other venues, including a projection mapping show at Taimali's Dawn Park at 4 a.m. on July 10, a fireworks show at Chishang's Dapo Pond at 7 p.m. on July 24, and a combined fireworks and drone show at Taitung Seashore Park at 7 p.m. on August 7.
The festival will also include hot air balloon shows and tethered balloon rides, available from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily, except on Tuesdays when all events will be closed.
