Taiwan’s rights activists, lawmakers and scholars on Monday joined a fundraising campaign to rebuild their own Pillar of Shame, a landmark work of protest art which was taken down in Hong Kong last year, as a reminder of worldwide crimes against humanity. The Pillar of Shame, designed by Danish artist Jens Galschiøt in the 1990s, was meant to commemorate the victims of historic crimes against humanity.
