Taiwan and Lviv Partner to Enhance Smart Medicine in Ukraine

Taipei: Taiwan's main foreign aid agency, the TaiwanICDF, has taken a significant step in international cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ukrainian city of Lviv to aid in the modernization of two local hospitals. This development was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement released on Wednesday. According to Focus Taiwan, the MOU titled "Smart Healthcare Enhancement" was signed in a hybrid format, with TaiwanICDF Secretary General Huang Yu-lin participating from Taipei while officials from Lviv gathered at the Lviv City Council session hall. This agreement marks the beginning of a Taiwan-funded initiative intended to bolster the emergency departments and intensive care units of St. Panteleimon Hospital and St. Nicholas Children's Hospital through the integration of advanced hardware, software, and AI-driven information systems. The initiative will also extend professional training opportunities to medical and IT staff at the two hospitals. The project ai ms to benefit the 720,000 residents of Lviv by enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi expressed his gratitude for Taiwan's support and the strengthening of ties between the two regions during the signing ceremony, which coincided with the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
