Taiwan Extends Anti-Dumping Duty on Chinese, Korean Cold-Rolled Stainless Steel

Taipei: The Ministry of Finance's (MOF) Customs Administration announced the extension of anti-dumping duties on Chinese and Korean cold-rolled stainless steel for another five years. The duties are set at 38.11 percent for Chinese imports and 37.65 percent for Korean imports, effective until March 17, 2030.

According to Focus Taiwan, the extension decision was based on a sunset investigation conducted by the MOF and the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). This investigation concluded that discontinuing the duties may harm local Taiwanese producers. The comprehensive analyses by the MOEA indicated a lack of sufficient evidence that extending the duties would negatively impact the economic benefits of the countries affected by these duties.

The anti-dumping duties were initially imposed on China and South Korea on August 15, 2013, at the request of Taiwanese company Yieh United Steel Corp. The company reapplied for an extension of these duties on February 19, 2024. The sunset investigations were subsequently announced on August 7, 2024.
