Taipei:Taiwan Panorama magazine is marking its 50th anniversary by hosting a photo exhibition that highlights the social, economic, and political evolution of Taiwan over the past fifty years.
According to Focus Taiwan, the exhibition, which is free to the public, will take place at Taipei's Huashan 1914 Creative Park from Friday to October 19. The exhibition is divided into four sections, focusing on everyday life, public infrastructure and resilience, democracy and freedom, and Taiwan's international presence.
At the ceremony launching "Taiwan Panorama 50 Through Photography - Taiwan in Focus" on Thursday, Deputy Foreign Minister François Wu reflected on the magazine's journey since its inception in 1976. He noted that Taiwan Panorama has been instrumental in documenting the country's significant economic and democratic transformations.
Wu highlighted Taiwan's current status as a leader in technology and semiconductors, emphasizing its growing diversity and global connections. The magazine has amassed an archive of approximately 500,000 photographs, offering a visual history of Taiwan's development.
Published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan Panorama is a monthly bilingual magazine available in Chinese-English and Chinese-Japanese editions. As it prepares to transition from print to digital at the end of the year, Wu assured that the magazine's extensive collection of stories and images would continue to thrive through digital platforms and online exhibitions.
Wu concluded by reaffirming the magazine's enduring mission to share Taiwan's story with the world, adapting to new communication tools while maintaining its core objectives.
