Taitung:Taiwan's Air Force has received the first two of 66 F-16V Block 70 fighter jets purchased from the United States. The aircraft arrived at Chihhang Air Base around noon on Friday, a delivery that took place roughly a month later than initially expected.
According to Focus Taiwan, the two jets were anticipated to reach Taiwan by the end of August. However, they remained in Hawaii without explanation as U.S. President Donald Trump prepared to meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping in late September.
The United States approved the sale of these 66 F-16Vs to Taiwan in 2019. Initially, deliveries were scheduled to commence in 2023 and conclude by 2026, but technical issues have delayed the timeline.
