Taiwan’s Army Completes Cross-Region Reinforcement Drills

Taipei: The Army Lanyang Regional Command based in Yilan County has successfully completed rapid deployment and cross-region reinforcement drills as part of Taiwan's Joint Defense Exercises, which concluded Friday, the military announced the same day.

According to Focus Taiwan, after receiving the drill order, military personnel boarded military vehicles and proceeded to designated strategic positions, as stated by the Fourth Theater Command. A fleet of CM33 armored vehicles was among those deployed, navigating through the Hsuehshan Tunnel on National Freeway No. 5 to reach a critical reinforcement position in western Taiwan. This marked the first deployment of CM33 armored vehicles along the freeway and through the tunnel, highlighting the military's capability to support other operational areas.

The exercise also involved other vehicles and artillery such as CM23 mortar carriers and 105-millimeter howitzers. The drill was designed to test the troops' command, control, communications, and coordination capabilities. Upon reaching the strategic position, which remained undisclosed by the command, military personnel commenced combat preparations. These included camouflaging vehicles, establishing communications, and deploying necessary forces as dictated by defensive warfare scenarios.
