Taiwan’s National Day Celebrations to Highlight Diversity and Unity

Taipei:This year's Republic of China National Day celebrations will feature a variety of programs showcasing the diversity, vitality, and unity of Taiwanese society, according to Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu.

According to Focus Taiwan, Han, who is also the chairman of the National Day Preparatory Committee, announced the plans during a press conference at the Legislative Yuan. The event was attended by officials including Taitung County Magistrate Yao Ching-ling and Deputy Interior Minister Wu Tang-an. The National Day ceremony on October 10 will include performances by the military honor guard and parades by civic and student groups, reflecting on the nation's development and achievements.

Celebrations are also planned outside of Taipei. An evening event titled "A Stage for the World -- Together in Taiwan" will take place at Banqiao Stadium in New Taipei on October 9, featuring performances by local and international artists such as singer Enno Cheng and Indonesian pop band Grrrl Gang. On October 10, a fireworks display is scheduled at Taitung's Haibin Park.

Additionally, Presidential Office Secretary-General Pan Men-an announced a light projection show on the Presidential Office building to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Taiwan's first direct presidential election. Running from October 7-10, the show will reflect on Taiwan's democratic progress over the past 30 years and look forward to its future. National Cultural Association of Taiwan Secretary-General Lee Hou-ching emphasized that the show will remind audiences that Taiwan's democracy is integral to daily life and highlight the role of Taiwanese people in shaping their democratic development.
