Taoyuan Airport Hosts Holiday Activities for Migrant Workers

Taoyuan: Taoyuan International Airport has organized a series of Lunar New Year activities for the over 1,400 foreign migrant workers engaged in its third terminal project, aiming to reduce feelings of homesickness during the holiday period. The airport stated that these efforts are designed to provide a festive atmosphere for the workers, who primarily hail from Vietnam and Thailand.

According to Focus Taiwan, the workers will be on holiday leave from January 25 to February 2. To enhance their holiday experience, the project contractor has set up numerous activities and prepared special meals for those who choose to remain in their dormitories. Planned activities include karaoke sessions, music performances, and contests such as arm wrestling and sepak takraw. Additionally, meals featuring seafood, beef, desserts, and fresh seasonal fruits will be served throughout the holiday.

These initiatives have previously resulted in high participation, with approximately 80 percent of Vietnamese workers and 90 percent of Thai workers opting to stay in their dormitories during last year's Lunar New Year holiday, as reported by the airport.
