Taipei: Visa-free travel to Thailand for citizens of 60 countries, including Taiwan, will be reduced from 60 days to 30 starting September 15, as part of a new policy announced by the Thai government.
According to Focus Taiwan, the revised policy, which was officially published in the Royal Gazette, indicates that Thailand will no longer apply a uniform 60-day visa-free policy to the 93 countries and territories that were previously covered. Instead, citizens from 60 of these countries, including Taiwan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, will be eligible for a 30-day visa-free stay.
The new regulations also state that citizens from Mauritius and Seychelles will receive a 15-day visa exemption. Additionally, the number of countries eligible for visas on arrival will decrease from 31 to three. These changes reflect Thailand's updated approach to balancing national security, economic considerations, and the promotion of tourism, as stated by the country's Interior Ministry and reported by Thai media.
