The Cabinet has ordered the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation to review the Royal Decree on Research Criteria and Research Regulations.

"Deputy Secretary to the Prime Minister" revealed that the Cabinet has resolved for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation to review the Royal Decree on Research Criteria and Research Regulations and to bring it back for further feedback. Mr. Suksit Srijomkhwan, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, announced the results of the Cabinet meeting that last week, the Cabinet approved the Royal Decree on Research Criteria and Research Regulations. After the draft law was issued, there was a wide range of opinions and many researchers under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation submitted their opinions. The Ministry therefore requested the Cabinet to reconsider the matter. It was resolved to bring this matter back for review and assigned the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation to listen to more opinions and to be comprehensive. Mr. Suksit stated that the intention of this law is to create a balanc e between freedom of research and academics with the sensitivity of religion, tradition and gender. There is no intention to block any freedom of research. At the same time, the parliament is considering the Research Promotion Act. It is expected that it will be implemented simultaneously.
