Taipei: The Central Weather Administration (CWA) on Sunday issued high-temperature warnings for 10 cities and counties across Taiwan, with the mercury reaching 37.4 degrees Celsius in Chiayi County's Dapu Township in western Taiwan in the early afternoon.
According to Focus Taiwan, Sunday's maximum temperature at around 2 p.m. was recorded in Dapu, followed by a reading of 36.7 degrees in Xihu Township, Changhua County, and 36.5 degrees in Nansi District, Tainan. A yellow alert, indicating temperatures of 36-38 degrees, was issued for Taoyuan in the north; Taichung, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, and Chiayi County in central Taiwan; Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung County in the south.
