CORONAVIRUS/New round of COVID-19 booster shot reservations to start Feb. 16

More people will be able to reserve appointments for COVID-19 booster shots via the government's 1922 platform from Wednesday, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Tuesday.

Individuals aged 18 and older who received their second COVID-19 vaccination shot on Dec. 5, 2021 or earlier will be able to register from Feb. 16 until midday Feb. 18, Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung (???) announced during the CECC's routine daily press briefing.

The platform was reactivated in mid-January due to the need for booster shots amid rising domestic COVID-19 infections.

At the routine briefing, Chen noted that as with previous rounds, applicant reservations will be prioritized by age, with seniors able to make the first bookings so as to prevent network congestion.

Those aged 55 and older can make reservations from 10 a.m., Wednesday, followed by the 38-54 age group from noon, he said.

Other applicants will be able to make reservations from 2 p.m., with the process concluding at noon on Friday, according to Chen.

The vaccination shots will be administered from Feb. 21-27, he said, adding that anyone interested in receiving a booster shot can check if they are eligible at https://1922.gov.tw before making a reservation on the same website.

Chen also said that people who are deemed eligible by the site will not receive text message reservation reminders as was previously the case.

Those who have appointments should wait patiently if there is a backlog of people waiting to be inoculated when they turn up to their designated sites to receive their jabs, he added.
