Firms cut ties with Leehom Wang after prostitution, adultery claims

Three firms severed ties with Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter Leehom Wang (???) Saturday in the wake of accusations of emotional abuse and repeated infidelity with hired sex workers.

Wang, long known for his wholesome public image, was dropped from endorsement deals with three Chinese firms following claims from his ex-wife Lee Jinglei (???) that the singer had solicited sex from prostitutes while on tour, conducted numerous affairs during their marriage, and resorted to emotional abuse in an attempt to push through a divorce.

Not long after Lee brought the accusations to light, the China branch of luxury car maker Infiniti released a statement Saturday morning saying they had terminated an endorsement deal with Wang agreed only two days before.

Fellow Chinese firms readboy, an educational tech corporation, and Chow Tai Seng, a jewelry company, followed suit the same day and announced that they would be removing Wang from all promotional materials.

Chow Tai Seng said that their contract with Wang had expired and that a new deal was not in the works between the two parties.

Meanwhile, readboy simply stated that the company will no longer be working with the singer.

Since getting married in November 2013, the four-time Golden Melody Award winner has been widely known for cultivating a reputation as a loving husband and father to his three children.

However, in a lengthy social media post on Friday, Wang's ex-wife, a graduate of Princeton and Columbia universities, said that Wang had pressured her into a life where she eventually chose to give up her career.

She also said that when the former couple first met, when Lee was 16, Wang, then 26, had pursued the underage Lee, and serenaded her with sweet talk.

Although Wang had previously released a statement saying the decision to split had been mutual, Lee claimed that this was a carefully stage-managed PR exercise and that the divorce had been initiated by Wang.

Lee said Wang had been openly conducting affairs and having sex with prostitutes, adding he had then pressured her into accepting a divorce so as to spare the reputations of the other women he may be seeing in the future.

After rejecting Wang's request to divorce, Lee said the singer had begun bullying and humiliating her in front of friends and family in an attempt to defame her.

Lee also touched on Wang and his management's use of media manipulation to sway public opinion in his favor, saying she had decided to reveal her troubles as means of ensuring that others would not have to bear the same emotional toll.

As of press time on Dec. 18, Wang has not made any responses to his ex-wife's allegations.

The singer was last seen returning from Beijing and avoiding the press at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Saturday.
