Flag-raising ceremonies held across Taiwan on National Day

Flag-raising ceremonies were held across Taiwan on National Day Sunday, though several were held online after limits were placed on attendance due to COVID-19 concerns.

In Taipei, the ceremony was attended by 500 people who made reservations, with Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (???) hosting the event and presenting souvenir backpacks to those in attendance.

In New Taipei, a flag-raising ceremony and a torch relay were held, the latter to celebrate the National Games which will be held in the city from Oct. 16-21.

New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (???) led event goers in singing the national anthem.

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (???) hosted a flag-raising ceremony in the southern Taiwan city, where many citizens celebrated the occasion by taking pictures with the national flag.

However, the flag-raising ceremonies in Taoyuan, northern Taiwan, and Taichung, central Taiwan, were held virtually due to the pandemic with only their respective mayors Cheng Wen-tsan (???), Lu Shiow-yen (???) and city officials present.
