Taipei: Summer-like weather is forecast across Taiwan next week, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said on Saturday. The CWA announced that central and southern Taiwan could see temperature highs exceeding 36 degrees Celsius in the upcoming week. With stable weather conditions prevailing, only sporadic showers are anticipated near mountainous regions, particularly in the afternoons.
According to Focus Taiwan, the CWA has issued a "yellow" heat alert for Tainan and Kaohsiung cities as well as Pingtung County in the south. The alert serves as a warning that daytime temperatures could reach 36 degrees. Additionally, a strong wind advisory has been put in place for New Taipei and Taoyuan cities in the north, as well as Pingtung and Taitung counties in the south, and outlying Lienchiang County. The forecast predicts that strong winds will persist into Sunday.
Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong supports the CWA's forecast, predicting temperatures of 20-32 degrees in the north, 22-34 degrees in central Taiwan, 21-36 degrees in the south, and 20-33 degrees in the east on Saturday. Wu added that temperatures are likely to climb even higher on Sunday. With the stable weather conditions expected on Saturday, only brief showers are likely in the east, while afternoon thundershowers may occur in mountainous areas in central and southern Taiwan.
