Taipei: Taiwanese businessman Pai Tsan-jung has announced the donation of another 60 disaster relief vehicles to Ukraine, at a ceremony held in Changhua County. According to Focus Taiwan, the vehicles, which include firetrucks, ambulances, rehab buses, and pickup trucks, were refurbished with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Fire Agency, local fire departments, and Taiwan Power Co. Pai, who is the chairman of Sun Jen Textile Co., Ltd., has previously donated 140 service trucks in three separate shipments over the past two years. This recent contribution marks his fourth donation to the cause. Pai expressed his commitment to the initiative by stating that he believes it is something he was supposed to do. He provided the majority of the funding for refurbishing the vehicles and has committed to covering the transportation costs to Europe. He extended gratitude to his employees, who made over 100,000 phone calls over the past two years to coordinate the donation project. The do nation ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Eric Huang, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of European Affairs, National Fire Agency Director-General Hsiao Huan-chang, and Taiwan Association of Community Advancement head Chang Tsai-kai. Huang highlighted that the donation was a collaborative effort between the private sector and government agencies, underscoring Taiwan's capability to assist beyond slogans. The event also saw the participation of approximately 20 Ukrainians residing in Taiwan. They gathered to honor Wu Chung-ta, a Taiwanese volunteer soldier who recently lost his life on the front lines in Ukraine. In addition, they presented a certificate of gratitude to Taiwan on behalf of Ukrainian non-government organizations.
